7COLOURED RAINBOW ; PART II
Kim sipped the smoking hot chocolate. She smiled at Kie who was enjoying her black coffee at the other end of the table. Gracefully Kie picked up the newspaper and took a quick look on the headlines.
Suddenly her heart slipped a beat. She read the headline again and again. But still the worst did not seem to get better. A middle aged butler approached the ladies, handing the phone carefully to Kie. She put the paper down with frowning look on her face. She glanced at Kim.
The preoccupied Kim on the other hand was still busy stuffing the delicious pancakes into her tiny mouth without any knowledge of the situation. Realizing that Kie was looking at her, Kim threw a big stuffy smile to her friend. Kie replied with an awkward smile and quickly took the phone with her to the other room.
“Hello”
“Hello, Kie. This is Aunt Rose,” said the voice over the phone. Kie definitely recognized the voice. That was Valen’s mother, Madam Rosaline La Rose. By the sound of it, she was crying, frantically. The heavy and sorrow voice of the fifty-year-old business tycoon had made her heart beating even faster than before.
“Kie, Valentine is gone. Valentine is gone!” said Madam Rosaline. She sounded somehow like she was choking of air. The good lady was freaking. She was not the way Kie remembered her to behave. Kie grasp the phone even tighter.
“I’ve read the news. What’d happened? How can she disappear just like that?” she asked.
“We had a fight. But I never thought that she will… Oh, what have I done?” said the old lady, crying her heart out. Kie sighed. That was not Valen. Valen would never do that. She knew her better than she knows herself.
“I don’t think that was the matter. Yes she is a bit grumpy sometimes but she would never take off just because of mere fight. No way!”
“I don’t know... oh, I just figure out that I should inform you since you three were such good friends. I’m going to tell Kim after this. My dear, if you heard anything from her please give me a call.”
“No! Please. Don’t tell Kim. She’s going through a tough time now. I’ll tell her later. Thanks for calling.”
Kie lean against the great mahogany door, sighing while thinking hard about the situation. Valen had disappeared. Just like that. That was absolutely insane! She was just talking to her on the phone a few days ago and she was so happy. Never had she heard Valentine La Rose so happy. In fact, they were supposed to meet up at their favorite spot today. What had happened? Something was terribly wrong!
